HIGH FLIGHTS - LOW COST

In a Ministerial Promotion Order of February 2002, the construction of the Castellón airport was authorized and declared of general interest of the State. Nine years later, on March 25, 2011, the airport was inaugurated. It had cost more than 150 million euros of public money. About 1,500 people attended the event; Most of the attendees were retirees and pensioners.

The French group Edeis Management took over the management of the Castellón airport, but it did not begin to operate until September 15, 2015. The first scheduled aircraft to land at the airport came from London.

Currently, the airport does not have permanent staff of the State Security Forces and Corps, since traffic is scarce.
